Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Ren is a habit tracking application that turns your daily routines into a living restaurant experience. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
By using Ren, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a display name. This is used to identify your account and personalise your experience.
Habit data
We store the habits you create, including their names, emoji, difficulty tiers, schedules, and completion history. This data powers your streak tracking, reputation score, and restaurant progression.
Mood and journal entries
Daily mood check-ins and any journal notes you write are stored and used to generate pattern insights. This data is private and never shared publicly.
Usage data
We collect basic usage information such as session timestamps and feature interactions to improve the product. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual identities in our analytics.
Push notification tokens
If you enable push notifications, we store your browser's push subscription token to deliver daily reminders. You can revoke this at any time in Settings.
- To run your account, habits, streaks, and restaurant progression
- To generate AI-powered insights and habit recommendations via Chef Kenji and Hana
- To send you daily habit reminders (only if enabled)
- To display your public share profile if you choose to share it
- To improve the product through aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
Ren uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) for Chef Kenji chat, habit suggestions, and pattern insights. When you interact with these features, relevant context from your habits and progress is sent to the AI model to generate a response.
We do not use your personal data to train AI models. Conversations are processed in real time and are not retained by the AI provider beyond the immediate request.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which is hosted on AWS infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared only in the following limited cases:
- Public share profiles: If you share your profile link, your restaurant name, username, streak, and reputation are visible to anyone with the link.
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database), Anthropic (AI), and Vercel (hosting) to operate the service. These providers access only what is necessary to perform their function.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
The Ren Chrome extension stores a copy of your session token and habit data locally in chrome.storage.local to display your restaurant in new tabs without requiring an internet connection on every load.
This data is local to your browser and is not accessible to other extensions or websites. It is cleared when you sign out of the extension.
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your habit data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time via Settings
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
Ren uses session cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
Ren is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Ren after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, reach out via the feedback link in the app or through our support channels.
